OPP assist U.S. Coast Guard after boat catches fire

Lambton OPP officials allege: On September 3, 2020, at approximately 2 p.m. Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), St. Clair Fire Department, Lambton County Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) and Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) responded to a report of a United States vessel on fire in the St. Clair River in St. Clair Township.

Initial investigation revealed a United States vessel had caught on fire, drifted into Canadian waters and struck a dock, vessel and Sea-Doo on St. Clair Parkway in St. Clair Township.

The three occupants of the vessel were transported back to the United States via the United States Coast Guard.

No injuries were sustained.

The Ministry of Environment attended to monitor for any fuel spillage and the cleanup of the vessel.
