Woman charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police attended a motel in Chatham and learned that the woman had been staying with a man, with whom she was not to have contact with.

The 25-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Domestic leads to impaired driving charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man attended his ex-girlfriend’s residence and a verbal argument began.

The man threatened the woman and left prior to police arrival.

Officers located the man a short distance away and a traffic stop was initiated.

Police believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.

The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests, where he refused to provide two suitable samples.

While in custody, the man also urinated on the cell floor and threw water from the toilet onto the floor.

The 34-year-old Chatham man has been charged with uttering threats, impaired driving, refusing to comply with a breath demand, being a novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero and mischief under $5000.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man breaches curfew

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On June 5, 2020 a man was released from court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was to obey a daily curfew of 12 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Just before 3 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed the man riding his bicycle on Baxter Street in Chatham with no lights.

The officer stopped the man for this offence and learned that he was currently bound by a curfew.

The man fled on his bicycle to St. Patrick Street.

He then jumped off his bike and began running.

Following a short foot chase, the man was taken into custody near St. George Street.

The 35-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a youth who was wanted for uttering threats.

The 15-year-old Wallaceburg girl was arrested and released to a family member pending a future court date of October 19, 2020.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police arrested a man who was wanted for assault with a weapon, administering a noxious substance and breaching his probation order.

The 19-year-old Chatham man was released pending a future court date October 7, 2020.

Man charged with driving while suspended

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night around 9 p.m. an officer on general patrol in Chatham observed a man driving a motorcycle on Sandys Street with no lights.

The man pulled into a nearby parking lot and the officer spoke with him.

Through investigation, the officer learned that the man was suspended from driving and that the license plate was not registered to the motorcycle.

The 41-year-old Chatham man was charged with driving while under suspension and using plates not authorized for the vehicle.

He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on October 14, 2020.

Break and enter in Ridgetown

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Sunday and yesterday, unknown suspects forced their way into a home on Erie Street, causing about $1,000 damage.

Once inside, the suspects stole various electronics and items valued at approximately $3,000.
