Group bringing Christmas ‘gift’ to Chatham-Kent

A group of volunteers are looking to ensure the Christmas spirit stays alive and well in Chatham-Kent.

“Every day, we continue to hear of another holiday event cancellation or reduction due to the pandemic,” said Brent Wilken, a committee member, in a press release.

“Chatham-Kent is a community that proves time and time again, that during difficult times, we come together. Help is coming. Something big is coming. Chatham-Kent has heard the disappointment and the call will be answered – help is on its way.”

Wilken said in the coming days and weeks, more information will be shared with the public.

“We want to ensure Chatham-Kent that the pandemic will not cancel the holiday spirit in this community,” Wilken said.

“No one will go without. We are excited to share more. Until then, dozens of Christmas initiative organizations big and small from all over Chatham-Kent continue to diligently work hand in hand as one with citizens to spark this flame. We ask you to be ready for the biggest event our community has ever seen.”

Wilken said any organization in Chatham-Kent that is affected by the pandemic and having to cancel, modify or reduce their holiday fundraising event to provide support to those in need, can contact them if they would like to be part of or supported by this upcoming effort.

Wilken said to contact thegiftck.ca@gmail.com or call 519-784-2800.

“Get ready CK,” Wilken added.

“The holiday season is alive and well in CK.”

We’ll provide more details when they become available.
