Woman charged with assault police

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 8, 2020 the woman was released from custody with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that she was not to communicate with the property manager of her apartment building.

Yesterday afternoon, the woman approached the property manager while outside a local variety store and began yelling at her.

The property manager fled the area and called police.

Officers located the woman a short time later on Lacroix Street.

As the officer placed the woman under arrest, she resisted and became assaultive by kicking and punching the officer.

The woman was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.

The 58-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with failing to comply with her release conditions, resist arrest and assault police.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Collision leads to impaired charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a fail to remain collision on Grand Avenue between Woods Street and Churchill Street in Chatham.

Officers located the man a short distance away and through investigation believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 57-year-old Chatham man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of October 27, 2020.

Woman charged with public mischief

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 3 a.m. this morning, a woman called police reporting a break and enter in progress involving her ex-husband.

Officers responded to the residence in Ridgetown and through investigation learned that the allegations were false.

The 35-year-old Ridgetown woman was arrested and charged with public mischief.

She was released pending a future court date.

Man charged with being intoxicated in a public place

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to the report of an intoxicated man yelling at customers inside a store on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Officers located the man who was unable to care for himself.

For his own safety, the 36-year-old Chatham man was arrested.

He has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place and was released this morning when sober.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a man in Tilbury who was wanted for domestic related offences and failing to comply with his release conditions.

The 30-year-old Tilbury man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last yesterday afternoon, police initiated a traffic stop on Princess Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a man in the vehicle was wanted for domestic related offences.

The 53-year-old Chatham man was arrested and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, officers conducted traffic enforcement on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Seven motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.

Theft of ATV

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Sunday at 8 p.m. and Monday at 1:30 p.m. unknown suspects entered a barn on Orford Road in Thamesville and stole a dark green 2017 Honda T8C ATV.

The suspects then forced their way into a nearby grain bin office and stole:

– Acculab Vicon scale

– Freshco Kitchen scale

– Labtronics model 919 moisture detector

Total damage was estimated at $500.

Total value of the theft was estimated at $9,500.
