Male arrested for shoplifting and assault in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 12 p.m. on November 27, police attended a store on St. Clair St. for a shoplifting complaint.

A 33-year-old man was arrested and charged with theft and possession under $5,000 and assault, after it was learned that he also spit on a store employee.

The man was released from custody with a court date of December 29, 2020.

Male arrested for impaired driving in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly before 10 p.m., police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver.

After the vehicle was located and a traffic stop initiated, the 27-year-old male driver was found to be exhibiting signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving.

The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests and was later released from custody with a court date of December 18, 2020.

Male arrested for impaired driving in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around midnight, officers conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle after it failed to stop at a stop sign.

The 37-year-old male driver exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving.

The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests and was later released from custody with a court date of December 18, 2020.

Male arrested for possession of stolen property and drugs in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On November 26 just prior to 8 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Emma Street, after confirming the plates on the vehicle were stolen.

As a result, the 46-year-old male driver was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.

Search incident to arrest revealed a loaded syringe with suspected meth was located in his sock and he was further charged with possession of a controlled substance.

He was released on an Appearance Notice with a court date of December 16, 2020.

Female arrested on warrants in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 5 p.m. on Thursday, a 41-year-old female was arrested on outstanding warrants for theft and possession under $5,000.

She was later released from police custody on an appearance notice with a future court date of December 16, 2020.
