Chatham-Kent’s first immigration survey is being released by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent’s Community Attraction and Promotion (CAP) division in collaboration with the Chatham-Kent Local Immigration Partnership (CKLIP).
Municipal officials say the survey is an opportunity for all immigrant newcomers to have their voices heard and to help ensure that Chatham-Kent remains a welcoming community for all residents.
Results from the survey will help the municipality, community stakeholders and service providers understand the needs of immigrants in Chatham-Kent and work towards addressing those needs.
“In 2016, Chatham-Kent was designated as Canada’s First Welcoming Community by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada,” stated Audrey Ansell, manager of community attraction and promotion, in a media release.
“Chatham-Kent prides itself on being a welcoming community for all immigrant newcomers that choose to settle here. The findings from this inaugural survey will help us to ensure we continue to work towards making a welcoming community for all.”
Jason Stubitz, Project Coordinator of the Chatham-Kent Local Immigration Partnership, added the survey is open to anyone that immigrated to Canada and currently resides in Chatham-Kent.
“Whether you arrived in Chatham-Kent yesterday or 45 years ago, we want to hear your feedback on your experiences in the community,” Stubitz said in a press release.

The survey is open to individuals 16 years of age or older and is available in English, French, Arabic, Spanish and Low German.
