Disturbance leads to charges
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance at a local motel in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the man attended the motel, even though he was bound by a conditional sentence order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and not to attend this motel.
Officers located the man a short distance away and he was taken into custody.
The 26-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of breaching his conditional sentence order.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man charged with theft
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Shoppers Drug Mart on Grand Avenue in Chatham.
A 46-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.
He was released pending a future court date of January 12, 2021.
Family dispute leads to assault charges
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a family dispute at a residence in Tilbury.
Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation resulting, in the man punching holes into the drywall and biting a family member.
The man also threw a chair and paper towel roll with holding rack at two family members in the home.
A 39-year-old man was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries for medical attention.
The 24-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with assault, mischief under $5,000 and two counts of assault with a weapon.
He remains in police custody this morning.
As a result of the altercation, the 39-year-old man was also arrested and charged with assault.
He was released pending a future court date of January 14, 2021.
Pair charged with failing to comply
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 4 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed a suspicious vehicle parked in a parking lot on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.
A query of the license plates revealed that the plates were not registered to the vehicle.
The officer approached the vehicle and through investigation learned that the driver, a 34-year-old woman, of no fixed address, was wanted by London Police and OPP.
The woman was arrested on the outstanding warrants and additionally charged with two counts of failing to comply with her release conditions as she was not to communicate with her passenger of be in his presence.
The passenger, a 34-year-old man, of no fixed address, was also arrested on outstanding warrants from London Police and OPP.
He was additionally charged with three counts of failing to comply as he was also on conditions not to communicate with the driver or be in her presence.
Both the man and woman have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
