Domestic investigation leads to drug charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to an assault complaint at a residence in Blenheim.

Through investigation, police learned that during the night, the man assaulted and threatened his girlfriend while in her vehicle.

The woman was able to flee from the man and return home.

Early in the morning, the man then attended the woman’s home and identified himself as a police officer to get her attention.

When the woman opened the door, the man pushed his way into the apartment.

The man was physical with the woman again and stole her cell phone.

The man was arrested a short time later and when searched was found to be in possession of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

The 54-year-old Chatham man was charged with assault, uttering threats, impersonating a police officer, robbery and drug possession.

He was held pending a bail hearing and remanded into custody until December 18, 2020.

Collision leads to impaired driving charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night around 9:30 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of McNaughton Avenue and Sandy Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police suspected that the driver at fault was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

A roadside breath test was administered and the man failed.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.

A 20-year-old Windsor man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit, being a novice driver while a blood alcohol concentration above zero and driving with alcohol readily available.

He was released pending a future court date of January 15, 2021.

His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

Man charged with domestic and drug related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 4 a.m. this morning, police responded to a disturbance at a motel in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man assaulted a woman in the room, with whom he was not to associate with.

The man fled prior to police arrival however officers observed fresh foot prints in the snow and followed them.

The man was located a short distance away hiding behind a tree.

The man was arrested and upon being searched, was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine.

The 33-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, drug possession, two counts of breach of probation and four counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police located a man on James Street in Wallaceburg who was wanted on several outstanding warrants.

The 31-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, London Police arrested a man who was wanted in connection with a domestic dispute that occurred in Blenheim earlier this week.

The 34-year-old London man was charged with uttering threats and forcible confinement.

He was released pending a future court date of January 6, 2021.

Motor vehicle collisions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon around 3 p.m. emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on St. Clair Street between Regency Drive and Pioneer Line.

Both drivers were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver at fault was charged with failing to yield the right of way.

Total damage was estimated at $25,000.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, shortly after 8 p.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on King Street West near Lacroix Street in Chatham.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $6,000.

The driver at fault was charged with making a turn not in safety.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 9 p.m. last night, police responded to a collision on Dufferin Street in Tilbury.

The driver lost control of their vehicle and slide into a parked vehicle then a pole.

The driver was charged with careless driving.
