Man charged with drug offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the report of a suspicious man around a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Officers located the man in a dumpster behind the business.

Based on the signage on the dumpster, the man was arrested for trespassing.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

A 50-year-old Chatham man was charged with drug possession.

He was released pending a future court date of January 14, 2021.

Woman arrested on outstanding warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a domestic dispute a local motel in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman in the room was wanted for fraud related offences and failing to comply with her release conditions.

The 41-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and held pending a bail hearing.

She was remanded into custody until December 21, 2020.

Family dispute leads to assault charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance between brothers at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation involving a door frame, broom and computer chair.

Minor injuries were reported.

A 29-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault and three counts of assault with a weapon.

He was released pending a future court date of January 15, 2021.

Man charged with breaching curfew

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 1 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious man inside the VIA Rail train station on Queen Street in Chatham.

Officers located the man inside the building and through investigation learned that he was currently bound by a daily curfew of 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The 32-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police conducted speed enforcement on Middle Line.

Three motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.

Theft of rollout bucket

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between Tuesday at 5 p.m. and Wednesday at 3 p.m. unknown suspects stole a Rockland 5.5 yard rollout bucket from a property on Queens Line.

The bucket weighs 2.5 tonnes and is valued at approximately $30,000.

Stolen bucket similar to photo below and was painted yellow to match this Komatsu wheel loader.
