The organizer of Dresden-area event has been charged under the COVID-19 provincial regulations.
Municipality of Chatham-Kent officials say on Friday, December 18, an event organizer was charged by Chatham-Kent bylaw enforcement officials for holding an organized event in excess of 50 persons under the Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020:
– (1) Subject to subsection (2) and sections 2 to 5, no person shall attend,
(a) an organized public event of more than,
– (i) 50 people if the event is held indoors, or
– (ii) 100 people if the event is held outdoors;
“The charge, which carries a minimum fine of $10,000, was laid in connection to an event held in the Dresden area,” Municipal officials said in a press release.
“The charges stem from a complaint received regarding the planned event.”
No further information concerning the incident will be released, Municipal officials added.
