Baseball bat attack in Sarnia

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: A 33-year-old man from Port Lambton, Ontario suffered significant injuries yesterday after an altercation on College Avenue.

On December 30, 2020 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Sarnia Police and Lambton EMS were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 100 block of College Avenue North after a man was reported to be bleeding and lying unconscious in a hallway.

The investigation revealed that an altercation took place between the 33-year-old victim and a 25-year-old woman from Sarnia.

This altercation escalated when the accused, a 25-year-old man from Petrolia, allegedly began striking the victim with a baseball bat.

The female is also accused of striking the victim with the same baseball bat while the victim was being held by the other male.

The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance and was treated for his injuries.

The 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Assault with a Weapon and Failing to Comply with Release Order.

He was held for a bail hearing and has since been released.

A warrant has been requested for the 25-year-old female for Assault with a Weapon and Assault Causing Bodily Harm.

There is no concern for public safety at this time.
