Update: Charges laid after fatal November crash in Tilbury

Chatham-Kent OPP officials allege: On November 23, 2020 at approximately 11:05 a.m. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Chatham-Kent officers responded to the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 east of County 42 for a report of a motor vehicle collision.

Highway 401 eastbound lanes at County Road 42 was closed for several hours to allow for investigation.

One person was pronounced deceased at the scene and a second person was transported to hospital with injuries.

As a result of the investigation on January 9, 2021, a 24-year-old Windsor man has been charged with Careless Driving Cause Death and Careless Driving Cause Bodily Harm under the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Chatham-Kent Provincial Offences Court on February 24, 2021.
