Officer recognized for Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics work

A Chatham-Kent Police Service officer has been recognized for his work with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.

At the Police Services Board meeting on Tuesday, Chief Gary Conn presented Const. Jason Herder with the Award of Honour.

“The Award of Honour is presented to Law Enforcement personnel who achieve a minimum of five years involvement with LETR as fundraisers and/or organizers who have made an exemplary commitment,” police officials said on social media.

“Since taking over from retired Constable Mike Currie, Jason has organized events which have raised over $67,000 annually. Since 2016, a total of $145,000 has been raised locally. Jason would like to thank the community for their on-going support of LETR events.”

Police officials added: “On behalf of everyone here at CKPS – congratulations Jason.”
