Police: Taser deployed during arrest, B&E arrests in Wallaceburg, drugs

Update: Storage units entered in Blenheim

Chatham-Kent Police service officials allege: As previous released last week, sometime late last Monday night or early Tuesday morning, unknown suspects entered three units at Access Storage on Allison Line.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible and he was arrested last night.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected crystal methamphetamine and a set of hard plastic knuckles, designed to be used as brass knuckles.

The 35-year-old Chatham man has been charged with mischief under $5,000, three counts of break and enter committing theft, failing to comply with his release conditions, being in possession of a prohibited weapon and drug possession.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Shoplifting leads to arrest

Chatham-Kent Police service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart in Chatham.

With the assistance of video surveillance, the man responsible was identified.

Officers located the man a short distance away and he was arrested.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of the stolen MP3 player.

A 23-year-old Chatham man was charged with theft under $5,000, being in possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failing to comply with his Probation Order.

He was released pending a future court date of February 24, 2021.

Woman charged with breaching curfew

Chatham-Kent Police service officials allege: On October 30, 2020 the woman was released from custody with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that she was to obey a daily curfew of 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Shortly after 1 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol observed an ATV driving at a high rate of speed in Shrewsbury.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation learned that the woman driving was bound by a curfew.

The 35-year-old Blenheim woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police service officials allege: On January 5, 2021 the man was released from Court with several conditions.

Two of those conditions stated that he was to reside at a specific address in Kapuskasing and to remain in his residence at all times.

Just before 3 a.m. this morning, police located the man at a residence on Talbot Trail near Blenheim.

The 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen vehicle investigation leads to arrest

Chatham-Kent Police service officials allege: Around 3 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol located a stolen truck and trailer parked in a parking lot on Victoria Road in Ridgetown.

As the officer approached the truck to further investigate, the man falsely identified himself and attempted to drive away.

The officer was able to stop the man and place him under arrest.

The man resisted arrest by continuing to accelerate and trying to drive away.

The man was taken out of the truck and a struggle ensued as the man became aggressive.

The man was taken into custody as the officer successfully deployed his conductive energy weapon (taser).

The 47-year-old Ridgetown man has been charged with theft over $5,000, two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, obstruct police and resist arrest.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police arrested a woman who was wanted in connection with a break and enter investigation in Wallaceburg last week.

A 23-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with break and enter and trespassing by night.

She was released pending a future court date of February 23, 2021.

Chatham-Kent Police service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a man who was wanted in connection with the same break and enter investigation mentioned above.

A 51-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with break and enter and trespassing by night.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and remanded into custody with a future court date of January 28, 2021.

Chatham-Kent Police service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a man in Chatham who was wanted by OPP.

The 43-year-old man was turned over to Essex OPP for court purposes.

Chatham-Kent Police service officials allege: Late yesterday afternoon, police responded to a 911 hang up call in the Tilbury East Township area.

As police attended the area to the check on the well-being of the person registered to the phone, it was learned that she was wanted for assault, failing to comply with her release conditions and failing to attend court.

The 41-year-old woman has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman arrested on warrant

Chatham-Kent Police service officials allege: On January 22, 2021 a 38-year-old Wallaceburg woman was located and arrested on an outstanding warrant for Fail to Attend Court.

The warrants were not endorsed and thus the accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested on warrant

Chatham-Kent Police service officials allege: On January 22, 2021 a 22-year-old Chatham man was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Fail to Comply with an Undertaking.

The accused was released pending a future court date.
