Provincial Park Passes available at Chatham-Kent libraries

Chatham-Kent Public Library (CKPL) members can borrow a 2021 Ontario Parks Annual Vehicle Permit from any of their 11 branches.

Passes are loaned for seven days and provide day use access to all Ontario Provincial Parks.

Library officials say passes can be requested through CKPL’s virtual reference service ‘Ask CKPL’.

Reach Ask CKPL by phone (519.354.2940), text (519.401.7174), email (cklibrary@chatham-kent.ca) or Facebook Chat (@CKPLibrary).

A limited number of passes will also be available as part of CKPL’s Express Collection.

Express Collection items are loaned on a “first come first served” basis.

Items in this collection cannot be placed on hold, nor can they be set aside for pickup – please ask if one is available at Curbside Service at your branch, library officials say.

Passes were provided by Ontario Parks as part of their library day-use vehicle lending program. The motivation behind this program is to help Ontarians spend more time in nature.

A wide body of research supports the idea that time spent in nature has significant benefits for our mental and physical health, library officials added.

“Ontario Parks is committed to making our provincial parks more accessible,” library officials say.

“This program is one way to help more Ontarians to get outside and enjoy their local provincial park.”
