114 active COVID-19 cases, 1,164 total, 12 outbreaks in C-K

The active COVID-19 case count has increased by one and sits at 114 in Chatham-Kent.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit updated their ‘current situation’ page, which provides a summary of COVID-19 cases and testing in Chatham-Kent, on Friday, January 29, 2021.

The total number of COVID-19 cases has increased by six and now sits at 1,164 across Chatham-Kent.

CK Public Health officials say one person remains hospitalized with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent, one less than on Thursday.

Public health officials announced four more recoveries, bringing the total to 1,044.

Overall, there remains 12 active COVID-19 outbreaks across the community:

– Four institutional outbreaks: Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg, more details here, Meadow Park Nursing Home in Chatham, Tilbury Manor Nursing Home and the COVID Unit at the CKHA, more details here.

– One workplace outbreak at Walmart in Wallaceburg, one workplace outbreak at New Vision in Wallaceburg and two other un-named workplace outbreaks.

– One school outbreak at Lambton-Kent Composite School in Dresden. Details, here

– Three congregate living outbreaks.

47 of the active cases are linked to close contact, 29 are linked to institutional outbreaks in Chatham-Kent, 14 are unknown, 12 are linked to workplace outbreaks in Chatham-Kent, five cases have information pending, four cases are linked to institutional outbreaks outside of Chatham-Kent, two cases are linked to the school outbreak and one case linked to congregate living outbreaks.

Since the pandemic began in March, six people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.

A total of 69,964 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

The first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine were also administered in Chatham-Kent on Monday. Details, here.

“Effective January 14 at 12:01 a.m., there is a stay-at-home order in effect for 28 days requiring everyone to remain at home except for essential purposes, like the grocery store, pharmacy, health care, and essential work,” CK Public Health officials posted on social media.

On Tuesday, January 12, 2021 the Ontario Government declared a second state of emergency to address COVID-19.

“Please do your part and follow public health recommendations to help flatten the curve, and keep our community healthy and safe. We can do this CK.”
