9th Chatham-Kent resident dies from COVID-19

A man in his 50s, who had been hospitalized, died from COVID-19 at Erie Shores hospital in Leamington, public health officials told the Sydenham Current.

This is the ninth Chatham-Kent resident to die from COVID-19.

The death was announced on the ‘current situation’ page of the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit’s website on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

The eighth death, a woman in her 90’s, who was a resident at Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg, was confirmed on Thursday, February 11, 2021.

The seventh death, a woman in her 90’s who was also a resident at Fairfield Park, was confirmed on Monday, February 8, 2021.

The sixth death, a man in his 70’s, was confirmed by public health officials on Friday, January 29, 2021.

The fifth death was a woman in her 80s, who died on January 16, 2021.

The fourth death was a 91-year-old Chatham man, who died on Thursday morning, January 14, 2021, at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus.

The third death, a woman in her 80’s, died on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

The second death, a woman in her 50’s, was at the beginning of August.

The first COVID-19 death in Chatham-Kent, a woman in her 80’s, was back in April last year.
