Warrant arrest and drug seizure

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 2:30 p.m., while on general patrol police conducted a traffic stop in the area of McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Police learned the driver, a 24-year-old Wallaceburg woman, was wanted by Chatham Kent OPP and subsequently placed her under arrest.

While searching the female incident to arrest, police located an amount of suspected methamphetamine.

The accused was charged for the drugs and released with a future court date.

Police then transported her to Chatham Kent OPP for her to deal with her warrant.

Firearms offence

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 1 a.m. while on patrol, officers observed a vehicle known to them to be involved in ongoing criminal activity.

Police conducted a traffic stop and located a crossbow, BB guns and a loaded .22 rifle in the vehicle.

The two occupants of the vehicle, a 34-year old Chatham man and a 23-year-old Chatham woman were arrested for firearms offences.

The man was further found to be breaching his curfew and was the suspect in multiple thefts in the county.

Police also located a large amount of other property in the vehicle which is believed to be stolen.

The property was seized and both suspects were transported to Chatham-Kent police headquarters and held for bail.

Break and enter, theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On February 19, police responded to the report of a break and enter to a residence where food items were stolen.

Officers located a man in possession of the stolen property.

While police were investigating the break and enter the same man was accused of taking a motor vehicle without consent from another address.

The accused was taken into custody and later released with a future court date.

Utter threats and breach of conditions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On February 19, a local man who had just been released from a break and enter and theft of motor vehicle complaint, attended his brother’s residence in Chatham.

The man was on conditions not to communicate with his brother and in the midst of an argument, threatened to burn the brother’s house down.

The man was arrested for the second time in a one hour time span and charged with uttering threats and breaching a non-communication order.

The man was held in custody for a bail hearing for February 23, 2021.

Assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A call from a concerned neighbor in Chatham reporting he had witnessed a male push another party into a wall.

Officers attended the address to investigate and a query of the accused male resulted in him being wanted on a warrant from a previous incident.

He was arrested as part of the investigation and held for bail.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On February 19, a man and woman were having a disagreement in Chatham with regards to ongoing issues in the house.

As the argument escalated, the male ended up pushing the female and struck the child with his hand and pushed a soiled diaper into the face of the child.

The female was able to get to a phone and call police.

The male was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and one count of assault with a weapon.

CAS was contacted and the male was held for bail.

Drugs

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On February 19, Elgin OPP had stopped a female on the 401 near the Dutton turnoff.

A police check revealed she was subject of warrants for failing to attend court and possession of stolen property.

She was arrested and transported to Chatham Kent Police Headquarters by OPP.

While conducting a search of her property at headquarters, police located a small amount of what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine and a rock of crack cocaine.

She was subsequently arrested and charged on the drug possession as well.

As a result of the warrant and drug charges she was held for bail.
