Service review on customer service delivery, info desks & service centres being proposed

A Chatham-Kent Councillor is proposing that administration conduct a service review on service centres, municipal information desks and customer service delivery.

Mary Clare Latimer

South Kent Councillor Mary Clare Latimer entered a notice of motion at the February 1, 2021 virtual Council meeting.

“The service review should identify changing client habits, the movement to cashless payments and online transactions and phone service delivery models,” Latimer said in her notice of motion.

“The service review should consider closing service centres, municipal information desks or reducing / combining services into existing other municipal operations, hubs and discussions should include other services provided at each location… for example library services and police services, to determine if buildings could be divested.”

Latimer said the report should review the Service Ontario offices and recommend options moving forward.

“The service review should include engaging the community to determine what solutions make the most sense,” Latimer added.

Latimer is hoping for staff to report back to Council before the fall of 2021, prior to the formation of the 2022 budget.

Latimer’s motion is expected to be on the agenda for the next Chatham-Kent Council meeting, scheduled for March 1, 2021.
