Police execute search warrant in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, members of the Chatham-Kent Intelligence Unit, with the assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence on Gray Street in Chatham and fifth wheel trailer parked in the driveway.

Drug paraphernalia along with a non-restricted firearm and various ammunition that was stored in a careless manner, was seized.

A warrant is being requested for a 38-year-old Chatham man for failing to comply with his release conditions and a 21-year-old Chatham man for firearm related offences.

Collision leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 8:30 p.m. last night, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Fraser Road in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, police learned that the man lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway, struck a hydro pole and came to rest in a ditch.

The occupants were located by police a short distance away from the scene on Heritage Line.

The 35-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with careless driving and failing to comply with his release conditions as he was not to communicate with a specific woman, who was his passenger.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a local motel on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman assaulted the man with a crowbar.

The 28-year-old Merlin woman was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

She was released pending a future court date of March 10, 2021.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, members of Community Patrol conducted speed enforcement in the area of Charing Cross Road, Indian Creek Road, Bear Line Road, Longwoods Road and St. Clair Road.

In total, 29 tickets were issued to motorists for speeding and seatbelt related offences.
