Active COVID-19 case count drops to 97 across Chatham-Kent

The active COVID-19 case count has dropped by seven and now sits at 97 across Chatham-Kent.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit updated their ‘current situation’ page, which provides a summary of COVID-19 cases and testing in Chatham-Kent, on Friday, March 26, 2021.

The total number of COVID-19 cases increased by seven and sits at 1,565 across Chatham-Kent.

CK Public Health officials say one person remains hospitalized with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent, one less than on Thursday.

Public health officials announced 14 new recoveries, increasing the total at 1,458.

There are three active COVID-19 outbreaks across the community:

– An institutional outbreak at Hudson Manor, a retirement home in Tilbury, involving one case.

– A school outbreak at A.A. Wright Public School in Wallaceburg, involving five total cases.

– An outbreak at an un-named place of worship also remains active.

60 of the active cases across Chatham-Kent are linked to close contact, 11 are unknown, 10 cases have information pending, eight are linked to travel, three cases are linked to the school outbreak, three cases are linked to outbreaks outside of Chatham-Kent, one is linked to outbreaks in community settings and one case is linked to institutional outbreaks in Chatham-Kent.

Since the pandemic began last March, a total of 10 people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.

A total of 94,864 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Public health officials say 18,907 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered to date.

Beginning on Monday, March 22, 2021, Chatham-Kent moved into the ‘Red-Control’ tier of the Keeping Ontario Safe and Open framework.

“Each colour level will be reassessed every two weeks,” local public health officials say.
