Family dispute leads to arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a family dispute at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a verbal altercation between a father and his adult son escalated into a physical altercation.

The 53-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm. He was released pending a future court date of April 30, 2021.

Traffic complaint leads to impaired driving charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the report of a vehicle driving recklessly in Chatham, as the driver almost struck a school bus on Queen Street.

An officer on general patrol located the vehicle in an alleyway on Lorne Avenue and initiated a traffic stop.

Through investigation, police believed the man was driving while under the influence of a drug. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted and evaluation. As a result, the DRE officer believed the man was impaired by a drug.

A 30-year-old Chatham man was charged with impaired driving.

He was released pending a future court date of April 14, 2021.

Man charged with impaired driving

Last night, police responded to the report of a man causing a disturbance in the driveway of a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police suspected the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

A roadside breath test was administered and the man failed.

He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.

A 73-year-old Ridgetown man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of April 13, 2021.

Man charged with assault in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance between two men known to each other at a residence on Elgin Street.

Through investigation, police learned that a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation resulting in a laptop being damaged.

A 49-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with assault and mischief under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of May 5, 2021.

Traffic stop leads to impaired driving charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 12:30 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol on Victoria Road in Ridgetown observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 28-year-old Thamesville man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of April 13, 2021.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, members of Community Patrol conducted traffic enforcement on Longwoods Road between Merritt Line and Kent Bridge Road.

13 motorists were stopped and charged with various Highway Traffic Act offences.

Woman charged with stunt driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, a member of the Traffic Unit observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Merlin Road near Queens Line.

The officer recorded the woman driving 146 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

The 59-year-old Dresden woman was charged with stunt driving.

Her license has been suspended for seven days and her vehicle has been impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

She will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on May 19, 2021.

Motor vehicle collisions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a collision on Murray Street in Wallaceburg where the driver hit a parked a car and left the scene.

Through investigation, police identified the driver and the 25-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with failing to report an accident.

Total damage was estimated at $5,000.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Park Avenue East in Chatham.

Minor injuries were reported.

Total damage was estimated at $10,000.

A 34-year-old Chatham woman was charged with making a turn not in safety.
