Recreational fire permits extended across Chatham-Kent

As the warmer weather approaches and with many people beginning to enjoy outdoor activities, Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services has announced they are extending the expiry date of all recreational fire permits purchased from January 1 to May 12, 2020.

“All recreational fire permits purchased during this time will be valid until June 1, 2021,” fire officials said in a press release.

“This extension of time is being granted due to the fire ban that was imposed last year from April 1 to May 12, 2020.”

Applications for recreational permits and open air burning permits may be obtained online at: http://ckfes.ca/open-burn-permits/

“While campfires can be very relaxing events, we would like to remind everyone to continue to follow COVID-19 guidelines,” fire officials added.
