Police: Impaired driving, disturbance, stolen car in Duart

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 7:30 a.m. yesterday morning, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle in the middle of Regent Street in Blenheim.

The man had the vehicle in drive with the trunk open.

Through investigation, the officer believed the man was driving while under the influence and he was arrested.

The man was transported to police headquarters where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation.

As a result, the DRE officer believed the man was impaired by a drug.

A 27-year-old Blenheim man was charged with impaired driving.

He was released pending a future court date of April 27, 2021.

Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 8, 2020 a man was released from custody with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with his neighbour.

On Saturday morning, the man spoke to his neighbour while both of them were outside.

Yesterday morning, the 24-year-old Tilbury man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was released pending a future court date of April 27, 2021.

Disturbance leads to arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a disturbance in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, police learned that the youth entered a residence regardless of being on conditions not to attend the property or to communicate with the homeowner.

The 17-year-old Wallaceburg youth was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was held pending a bail hearing and released by the courts with a future court date of May 3, 2021.

Stolen car in Duart

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. unknown suspects stole a black 2011 Buick Regal from a residence on Duart Road.

The car was last seen with Ontario license plates CBBD 053.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: This weekend, members of Community Patrol conducted traffic enforcement across Chatham-Kent.

20 motorists were stopped and charged with various Highway Traffic Act offences.
