House fire on Base Road, transport blaze near Tilbury

Chatham-Kent firefighters responded to two fires on Sunday, March 28, 2021.

Fire officials say crews from Station #11 – Ridgetown, Station #12 – Harwich North and Station #18 – Blenheim responded to 20408 Base Road at 8:25 p.m. for a residential structure fire.

There were no injuries, fire officials say.

Damages are estimated at 500,000 and the cause is accidental.

“Protect your family from fire and carbon monoxide by having working smoke alarms on every level of your home and working CO alarms outside all sleeping areas… if your home has any fuel burning appliances, a fireplace, or an attached garage,” fire officials said in a media release.

Later in the evening, crews from Station 19 – Tilbury responded to a transport on fire on top of the overpass at Queens Line and Highway 401 exit 63, just after 11:30 p.m.

Fire officials said on social media that there no injuries.
