The active COVID-19 case count dropped by eight and now sits at 35 across Chatham-Kent.
The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit updated their ‘current situation’ page, which provides a summary of COVID-19 cases and testing in Chatham-Kent, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
The total number of COVID-19 cases increased by three and sits at 1,697 across Chatham-Kent.
CK Public Health officials say no one is hospitalized with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent.
Public health officials announced 11 new recoveries, increasing the total at 1,649.
An institutional outbreak at Hudson Manor, a retirement home in Tilbury, was declared over, along with one of the un-named workplace outbreaks.
School outbreaks at A.A. Wright Public School in Wallaceburg and UCC in Chatham, along with one un-named workplace outbreak remain active.
25 of the active cases across Chatham-Kent are linked to close contact, five are unknown, two cases have information pending and three cases are linked to school outbreaks.
CK Public Health officials say a total of 100 Chatham-Kent residents have had COVID-19 with a variant of concern or related mutation.
Since the pandemic began last March, a total of 13 people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.
A total of 99,454 tests for the virus have been completed to date.
Public health officials say 27,257 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered to date, while 25,817 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Chatham-Kent.
Beginning on Saturday, April 3, 2021, Chatham-Kent moved into the ‘Grey-Shutdown’ tier of the Keeping Ontario Safe and Open framework, along with the rest of the province.
Provincial officials say the provincewide “emergency brake” will be in place for at least four weeks.

The Province also declared a state of emergency and issued a ‘stay-at-home’ order for all of Ontario.
The order came into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021 and is expected to last for four weeks.
