We live in an incredible community.
I wanted to give an update on our Flowers For Seth fundraiser. Friday was amazing. We had so many people drive thru and buy bundles for Seth, it was so heart warming to witness.
For those of you who don’t know, Seth was born with a heart condition and on March 25th, he went into cardiac arrest. He has been in the hospital since, and he and his family have been going through an incredibly difficult few weeks.
Today, we had 500 bundles wrapped and ready to go. We thought we might sell another hundred or so, but we were so naively mistaken. Those 500 were gone by 10:30 in the morning, and we started wrapping every single flower we had in our cooler. The carns, the daisies, the lilies, you name it, we wrapped it.
We ended up selling 1518 bundles! We completely sold out of flowers at 3:30pm!Empty cooler. Nothing left!
With those 1518 bundles sold, the proceeds raised were $6072.00! Soooo much more than we anticipated!
The truly incredible part of all this, is that in excess of the $6072.00, our community donated an extra $4000.00. People were buying a $5 bundle and giving us tens, twenties, fifties and telling us to donate the rest. We had people who weren’t even buying flowers! All they wanted to do was help. $10,072.00. All because people just wanted to help in some way.
On top of all that generosity, Towell’s Auto Body had announced earlier today that they would match the proceeds made from today’s bundle sales. This means Mike will be donating $6000 on top of what was raised, bring the total to $16,072.00 that we can give to a family who going through such a horrible, unimaginable thing. This money can’t, and certainly won’t, solve their problems, but if it can help eliminate some or any of the stressors in their lives, I think that was all anyone wanted; to help Seth, and his family.
My eyes were watery all day.
Seth’s Sister, his Aunt Laurie, and two of his cousins came through and saw us today. They asked us to thank everyone who had donated, and we were lucky enough to have a FaceTime call with Seth and his Mom. There was not a dry eye around. 🤍
I am truly moved by the generosity of this town, the other business owners who are raising funds and all of the community members who went out of their way to support this cause. We had people messaging us asking to volunteer, it’s just incredible.
To my team THANK YOU, for working your butts off this week. To my family THANK YOU for giving your time today to help stand in the cold, and deliver flowers. To Sue and Pete Sarapnickas THANK YOU for bringing us lunch. We needed it. To all of you who came to buy a bundle today THANK YOU.
My heart is so full.
