Environment Canada issued and quickly ended a tornado warning across Chatham-Kent this morning.
Officials with Environment and Climate Change Canada Weather Ontario said the warning was issued in error.
“Tornado warnings were sent this morning for a number of regions in southern Ontario as a result of a testing error,” @ECCCWeatherON tweeted on Tuesday afternoon.
“We are taking steps to prevent this kind of error from happening in the future. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
The warning had stated that persons in or near the area should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions.
The warning was issued at 8:38 a.m. and was ended about five minutes later.
