Alzheimer Society holding Forget-Me-Not Scavenger Hunt

The Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent (ASCK) wants the community to explore the beautiful, local walking trails in Chatham-Kent on Saturday, May 29, 2021.

Registration is open for their Forget-Me-Not Scavenger Hunt which is in support of their virtual IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s fundraiser that they have been promoting since March.

This scavenger hunt was inspired by local resident Marg, who was featured in ASCK’s promotional video for the virtual walk.

Marg walked 80km by her 80th birthday to honour her late husband who was affected by dementia.

Part of her walk was accomplished by walking along Chatham-Kent trails.

This COVID-safe event will have participants searching across trails in Chatham for forget-me-not flower pinwheels from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

People can join the outdoor fun by yourself or with members of your household.

One lucky participant or household team will win a special prize.

All scavenger hunt participants will receive a swag bag with their clues, an Alzheimer Society-embroidered baseball cap and other items.

ASCK wanted to offer a safe and family-friendly outdoor activity that embodies the excitement of their in-person walks.

You must be fundraising either online or offline for the virtual walk to participate.

To register for this event, call their office at (519) 352-1043 or you can email Joel Emery, Fund Development/Admin Coordinator at jemery@alzheimerchathamkent.ca.

Deadline to register is Monday, May 17.

Further details will be sent to participants once they have registered.

ASCK is celebrating their virtual walk all month long in May on their Facebook and Instagram pages.

Special guest appearances with prizes and an online concert with local bands are what the Chatham-Kent community can expect leading up to the virtual walk and scavenger hunt on May 29.

If you would like to register online for the virtual walk, please visit www.walkforalzheimers.ca.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, this scavenger hunt is restricted to Chatham-Kent residents only and may be subject to change depending on the community’s status prior to the event.
