Woman charged with impaired driving
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 12:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious woman sitting in a vehicle in a parking lot on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.
Through investigation, the officer believed the woman was in control of her vehicle while under the influence and she was arrested.
The woman was transported to police headquarters where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation.
As a result, the DRE officer believed the woman was impaired by a drug.
A search incident to arrest also resulted in the woman being found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
A 26-year-old Tilbury woman was charged with impaired driving and drug possession.
She was released pending a future court date of June 3, 2021.
Youth charged with assault
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham.
Through investigation, police learned that the youth assaulted two family members in the home.
The 15-year-old youth was arrested and charged with two counts of assault.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Traffic stop leads to drug charges
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, an officer on general patrol in Wallaceburg initiated a traffic stop on Lowe Avenue near Base Line.
Through investigation, the officer learned that the license plates were not registered to the vehicle and that the man was driving with no license.
He also could not provide proof of a permit or insurance for the vehicle.
The man was arrested and upon being searched was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
The 31-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with drug possession and several Highway Traffic Act offences.
He will be required to attend court on June 17, 2021.
Man charged with driving while under suspension
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol observed the man driving in Blenheim.
A query of the licence plates revealed that the registered owner was suspended from driving.
A traffic stop was initiated and the registered owner was confirmed to be the driver.
The 19-year-old Blenheim man was charged with driving while under suspension.
He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on May 26, 2021.
His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.
Motor vehicle collisions
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Queen Street near Park Avenue East in Chatham.
No one was injured.
Total damage was estimated at $15,000.
A 51-year-old Chatham man was charged with disobeying a red light.
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a three vehicle collision on Sandys Street between Grand Avenue and Popular Street in Chatham.
Minor injuries were reported.
Total damage was estimated at $1,000.
The driver at fault was charged with following too closely.

A 25-year-old Chatham woman was charged with careless driving.
