Baseline Bridge reopens in Wallaceburg, testing and repairs to continue

The Baseline Bridge in Wallaceburg has reopened.

However, some intermittent closures can be expected for another week as planned hydraulic testing and repairs continue on the bridge.

Municipality of Chatham-Kent staff say the work will take place from Thursday, May 13, 2021 until Friday, May 21, 2021, weekdays only, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

“The bridge will be open to vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the evenings and on the weekend, with no interruptions,” Municipal officials say.

With the intermittent closures taking place periodically during the day, motorists can expect minor delays.

Municipal officials are encouraging people to continue to follow posted detour if possible.

The detour is on Old Glass Road, Mason Street, Arnold Road, Dufferin Avenue and McNaughton Avenue.

“Emergency service vehicles will not have access when the bridge is open periodically,” Municipal officials say.
