Arrest leads to drug charge

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a man in Wallaceburg who was wanted in connection with a theft investigation.

As the man was placed under arrest on the outstanding warrant, he resisted the officer.

Following a short struggle, the man was taken into custody.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of suspected Fentanyl.

A 30-year-old Wallaceburg man was additionally charged with resist arrest and drug possession.

He was released pending a future court date.

Man charged with driving while under suspension

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol in Wallaceburg initiated a traffic stop on Dufferin Avenue near Arnold Street in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, the officer learned that the man was suspended.

The 27-year-old Sarnia man was arrested and charged with driving while under suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and being a class G1 driver unaccompanied by a qualified driver.

He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on June 16, 2021.

His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

Man charged with mischief

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 1 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious man in Legion Park on Thames Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was digging up flowers in the park.

A 42-year-old Camden Township man was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of June 9, 2021.

Woman found in possession of stolen SUV

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: This morning around 2:30 a.m. police responded to the report of a stolen vehicle from a property on King Street West in Chatham.

A short time later, the vehicle was observed in a parking lot on McNaughton Avenue West.

Upon police arrival, the woman was observed in the driver’s seat and taken into custody.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the woman was found to be in possession of two stolen credit cards.

The 31-year-old Windsor woman has been charged with possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000, theft of credit card, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and three counts of failing to comply with her release conditions.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Suspicious vehicle in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night around 6:30 p.m. police were contacted regarding a suspicious vehicle.

Through investigation, police learned that earlier in the day, around 2:15 p.m. a white van, bearing Ontario license plates BD 69460, attended a residence on the north side of Chatham.

The two male occupants, entered the backyard of a residence and ask the young girl doing her homework outside about the family’s internet and fiber optics.

The men left when the girl called a family member and took a photo of the van.

At no time, did the men attempt to lure the girl away from her home or make physical contact with her.

The incident remains under investigation and serves as a good reminder for parents to talk to their kids about personal safety.

Theft of tools in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime Wednesday between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. unknown suspects entered an unlocked garage on Sage Crescent and stole various tools, valued at approximately $750.
