Active COVID-19 case count drops to 20 in Chatham-Kent

The active case count has dropped by four and sits at 20 across Chatham-Kent.

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit updated their ‘current situation’ page, which provides a summary of COVID-19 cases and testing in Chatham-Kent, on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

The total number of COVID-19 cases increased by one and sits at 1,850 across Chatham-Kent.

CK Public Health officials say eight people remain hospitalized with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent.

Public health officials announced that five more cases have been resolved, increasing the total to 1,816.

An institutional outbreak at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance’s medicine unit, which involves 10 cases, remains active, along with one un-named workplace outbreak.

Nine of the active cases across Chatham-Kent are linked to close contact, six cases are unknown, four cases are linked to the institutional outbreak at the hospital and one case is linked to travel.

CK Public Health officials say a total of 225 Chatham-Kent residents have had COVID-19 with a variant of concern or related mutation.

Since the pandemic began last March, a total of 14 people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.

A total of 110,360 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Public health officials say 51,190 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, while 49,178 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Chatham-Kent.

A total of 52% of Chatham-Kent’s population 12+ have received at least one dose.
