‘Camp in a Box’ is back with a few upgrades

CKRecreation has reactivated its sell-out Camp in a Box from last summer. In response to Covid-19 restrictions, CKRecreation launched its first ever Camp in a Box which quickly became one of the most sought after items of the summer.

Thus, due to popular demand, Camp in a Box is BACK, with a few upgrades of course.

“When we launched Camp in a Box last summer, we had no idea it would take off like it did,” said Ann Robinson, Manager of Recreation Services, in a media release.

“The demand clearly demonstrated that parents and caregivers were seeking activities that would not only keep their kids busy, but also keep them engaged and entertained. After another long academic year, we believe parents and caregivers will be excited to know that a kid favourite will be returning once again.”

Here’s what you need to know for the Camp in a Box launch on June 3:

There are only 50 boxes per week: Due to the fact that the CKRecreation Team will also be running in-person camps this summer, the team will only be able to offer a limited number of boxes per week.

Each box costs $25: Each box consists of 8-10 individual activities that come with all of the supplies and instructions needed to complete the task. Each box will have a different theme and will include a variety of STEM activities.

You can register online: You can register online at chatham-kent.ca/recreation or by calling 519-360-1998. All eight weeks will open for registration on June 3.

Pick-up is at your local library: During registration, you will be given the option to select any Public Library within Chatham-Kent as your pick-up location. You can pick-up your box starting on the Monday of the specific week you purchased.

You can choose a free add on: CKRecreation has partnered with the CKPL to provide you with books specific to the Camp in a Box theme for that week so you can continue the fun. Books are required to be returned to the Library by the specified date.

Further summer programming will be announced in the upcoming weeks via Facebook
