Sarnia Police Service officials allege: On Saturday, May 29, 2021, shortly after 1:30 p.m., officers from the Sarnia Police Service Community Response Division attended a residence in the 700 block of Cardiff Drive to check on the welfare of the occupant.
Officers attended the residence and conducted a search locating a deceased elderly person.
A post mortem examination was conducted and the results are still pending.
The identity of the deceased has yet to be confirmed.
A 49-year-old man from Sarnia was arrested and subsequently charged with Committing an Indignity to a Dead Body.
The accused has been remanded into custody with his next court appearance scheduled for June 9th, 2021.
The scene on Cardiff Drive has been released and the investigation remains ongoing.
