Police: Pair of arson investigations, assault, BB gun seized

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A message was received by Peel Police that they had a warrant for a person in our area.

The male was located on Sheldon Avenue in Chatham and arrested.

He transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters and released with a Form 10 with a future court date.

Arson on Keil Drive in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Two trailers located beside a business on Keil Drive were on fire around 6:41 p.m.

The fire was extinguished, damage/contents estimated at $200,000. 

The incident is currently under investigation.

Arson on Tweedsmuir Avenue in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 6:46 p.m. a portable toilet was found on fire and destroyed in the parking lot of Memorial Arena.

This incident is currently under investigation.

Assault in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: While driving a man became upset with his mother and started to assault her while driving.

He continued to drive erratically and eventually pulled over.

He then got out of the vehicle and assaulted a second party trying to render assistance.

The male was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters with a future court date of July 14, 2021

Unwanted party leads to weapons/warrant arrest in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police were contacted for an unwanted person.

Officers arrived and found a male who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

A search found the male to be in possession of a BB gun in violation of a previous release.

The male was transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters and released with a future court date of July 13, 2021.
