CKHA approves new strategic plan

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) has launched its new Strategic Plan, “Cultivating Wellness Together,” that will guide the organization over a three-year period to achieve its Vision, “Together, Growing a Healthier Community.”

Developed in response to feedback from internal and external stakeholders and analysis of an environmental scan, the Strategic Plan outlines new directions and goals in keeping with CKHA’s Mission, Vision and Values.

The new plan also takes into consideration the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the need for recovery, hospital officials say.

“CKHA’s new Strategic Plan is essential to guiding us over these next three years as we work with our partners and the community to cultivate wellness together,” said Lori Marshall, President and CEO, CKHA, in a media release.

“Our Strategic Plan will ensure that we continue to improve quality of care and health outcomes for our community; enhance the patient experience; improve the provider experience; and optimize our operations. A major component of each of these elements is a focus on post-pandemic health and wellbeing for both our community and our organization.”

CKHA’s Mission, “One Team, Two Sites – Serving Chatham and Rural Kent,” solidifies CKHA’s role as one organization with one common goal that serves a broad community, hospital officials added.

CKHA’s Vision, “Together, Growing a Healthier Community,” summarizes CKHA’s desire to work in partnership with community partners towards creating a healthier community for everyone. CKHA’s Values, “CKHA CARES – Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence and Safety,” unite the beliefs that are important to patients and their families, as well as the staff, physicians and volunteers of the organization.

CKHA’s 2021-2024 Strategic Plan is designed to advance the quality and safety of the care it delivers through engagement and partnership. To do this CKHA will:

– Working with Ontario Health (OHT) partners, improve health quality outcomes and quality of care;

– Enhance the patient experience for those who we encounter;

– Improve the experience of the care team across the continuum; and

– Improve the value for investment by optimizing operations.

“CKHA’s new Strategic Plan builds on the strengths of the organization while addressing areas for improvement with clear goals and objectives for the next three years,” said Alan Wildeman, Board Chair, CKHA Board of Directors, in a media release.

“This Strategic Plan is integral to guiding CKHA’s dedicated and talented team as the organization embarks on its next steps as a local health system leader.”

CKHA’s 2021-2024 Strategic Plan was developed through virtual consultations and engagement sessions with various groups and individuals.

These engagement sessions allowed the organization’s internal and external stakeholders to share their ideas about CKHA’s strengths and opportunities, as well as desired programs and services.

Feedback was also gathered from the community via the Chatham-Kent Ontario Health Team’s Let’s Talk CK survey.

This feedback was integral to the process and ensured that the views of the community, patients and their families are at the centre of CKHA’s decision-making.

CKHA would like to thank all the participants for their hard work and dedication in helping the organization cultivate wellness together to achieve its Vision of “Together, Growing a Healthier Community.””

The hospital’s Board of Directors confirmed CKHA’s Strategic Plan at its June 24 annual meeting.
