Severe thunderstorm warning ends in Chatham-Kent

UPDATE #5: At 8:03 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts and up to nickel size hail.

This line of severe thunderstorms is located from 20 kilometres west of Corunna to Dresden, moving northeast at 55 km/h.

Hazard: 90 km/h wind gusts and nickel size hail.

Locations impacted include:
Sarnia, Petrolia, Oil Springs, Corunna, Point Edward, Brigden, Bentpath and Oil City.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • Sarnia – Petrolia – Western Lambton County

At 7:40 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts and pea to dime size hail.

This severe thunderstorm is located near Port Lambton, moving east at 55 km/h.

Hazard: 90 km/h wind gusts and nickel size hail.

Locations impacted include:
Walpole Island, Port Lambton, Sombra, Wilkesport, Becher and Bentpath.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

At 6:51 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain.

This cluster of thunderstorms is located near Mitchell’s Bay, moving northeast at 30 km/h.

Hazard: Wind gusts 90 – 110 km/h and locally heavy downpours.

Locations impacted include:
Chatham, Mitchell’s Bay, Grande Pointe, Pain Court, Merlin, North Buxton and Arkwood.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
