A veteran radio broadcaster will be the Liberal Party of Canada’s Federal candidate in the next election, representing Chatham-Kent-Leamington.
The Chatham-Kent Leamington Federal Liberal Association announced on their Facebook page on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 that Greg Hetherington has been acclaimed
Navdeep Bains, the national campaign co-chair for the Liberal Party of Canada, said Hetherington will “continue building on our hard work to keep Canada moving forward.
“With a strong focus on important new engagement with Canadians, the Team Trudeau nominations process helps ensure we’re ready to re-elect our dedicated Liberal team in Parliament and continue to elect even more talented, diverse, and hardworking community leaders as Liberal MPs across Canada, whenever the next campaign eventually arrives,” Bains said in a nomination notice posted on the Liberal website.
“As we look forward to the important work ahead of us, the hope and hard work of Liberals across Canada will ensure our candidates and teams are ready to run competitive campaigns, and earn another mandate from Canadians – including right here in Chatham-Kent—Leamington,” Bains added.
Back in 2019, Hetherington was vying to become the Federal candidate for the Progressive Conservative Party in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.
However, he and four others lost to Lianne Rood, who eventually went on to become elected as MP.
Hetherington has worked in radio locally since the 1980’s and has owned and operated 99.1 CKXS in Wallaceburg since 2009.
