Lambton’s Medical Officer of Health running as the Liberal candidate in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex

Lambton County’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Sudit Ranade, is running as the Liberal candidate for the Lambton-Kent-Middlesex riding in the next Federal Election.

“I am excited to begin this new adventure,” said Dr. Ranade, in a press release issued by Lambton Public Health.

“Lambton Public Health has a fantastic team whose passion and dedication to our community has been evident throughout my tenure, but especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Together, we have made great strides in providing the residents of Lambton County the information, tools, strategies, and vaccines to help combat COVID-19. I have no doubt the team will continue this work while I explore this new chapter.”

Lambton Public Health officials say effective on the announcement date of the writs of the election, and once the election campaign officially begins, Dr. Ranade will take a leave of absence from Lambton Public Health (LPH).

The health unit is currently searching for an Acting Medical Officer of Health to provide coverage for the County, on an interim basis, during the election.

Due to the current pressures facing public health, the replacement of this legislated position is a priority, Lambton Public Health officials added.

Published reports indicate Ranade was acclaimed by the riding association on Wednesday.
