Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at No Frills in Wallaceburg.
Through investigation, police learned that the woman stole about $200 worth of groceries.
A short time later, police located the woman at Home Hardware, where she was taken into custody for theft and assaulting an employee.
A 41-year-old Walpole Island woman has been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and assault.
She was released pending a future court date of September 10, 2021.
