Chatham-Kent OPP officials allege: On August 28, 2021 at 1:39 p.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham-Kent Detachment, and Chatham-Kent Fire Department responded to Rondeau Provincial Park located in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent for report of a swimmer in distress in the waters of Lake Erie.
A 25 year old male, who had fallen off an inflatable raft, failed to re-surface.
OPP along with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Trenton (JRCC), Canadian Coast Guard, OPP Aviation Services, OPP Marine Unit and members of the Rondeau Provincial Park are currently searching the waters of Lake Erie.
The search is continuing and updates will be provided when new information becomes available.
