Police: B&E at Chatham church, hatchet swinging suspect arrested, stun gun seized

Disturbance

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On August 31, at approximately 10:25 p.m., police responded to a disturbance call in the area of King Street in Chatham’s downtown core.

A female party was swinging a hatchet around and knocking over garbage bins and throwing the garbage around.

She was arrested for weapons dangerous and mischief under $5,000, she was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters were she was later released with a future court date of September 28, 2021.

Warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On August 31, 2021 at approximately 9:28 a.m., while investigating a separate incident, police located a 31-year-old Tilbury man who was wanted on outstanding warrants.

After a short foot pursuit, the man was apprehended on a warrant for failing to comply with conditions.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On August 31, 2021 while on general patrol, police observed a 29-year-old woman in the area of Superior Street at Queen Street in Tilbury.

She was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to comply with probation.

She was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters were she was later released with a future court date of September 28, 2021.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A local business was entered sometime overnight on Tuesday.

The suspects removed a Mitre saw and left the area.

The general area was searched and nothing was located.

Church entered and cash taken in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime overnight on Tuesday, a church on Centre Street in Chatham was entered through a second story fire escape.

Once inside cash was taken and damages done to the building.

Warrant arrest leads to weapons charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A woman was stopped in the area of Wedgewood Avenue in Chatham and arrested for an outstanding warrant.

During the arrest the woman was found to be in possession of a stun gun and switch blade knife, which are prohibited
weapons.

The woman was transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters and held for bail.

Arrest for historical traffic offences in Morpeth

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A man was charged in 2019 for various offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

After failing to appear on numerous occasions, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The man was located and transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters and held for bail.
