Active COVID-19 case count rises to 122 in Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials updated their ‘current status’ page of their website on Thursday, September 10, 2021.

The active COVID-19 case count has risen to 122, 10 more than on Thursday.

Public health officials say 74.7% of the active cases are unvaccinated, 11.8% are partially vaccinated, 7.7% are unknown and 5.9% are fully vaccinated. These figures are as of September 4, 2021, public health officials say.

A total of nine people with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent are hospitalized.

The total number of COVID-19 cases is 2,180 across Chatham-Kent, 16 more than on Thursday.

A total of 2,041 cases have been resolved.

A total of 73 active cases are linked to close contact, 18 cases have information pending, 24 cases are unknown, six cases are outbreak related and one case is linked to travel.

A un-named workplace outbreak remains active.

This outbreak was first declared on September 7, 2021 and involves four total cases.

An outbreak at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, within the Medicine A Unit of hospital in Chatham, remains active.

This outbreak was first declared on September 6, 2021 and involves three total cases.

CK Public Health officials say the Delta variant continues to be the predominant circulating variant of concern in Chatham-Kent and Ontario.

“The majority of current cases among people living in CK have initial mutation screening results in line with the Delta variant,” public health officials added.

Public health officials say a total of 139,112 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 74,079 people 12+ have received at least one dose and 67,865 people 12+ have received two doses.

A total of 129,012 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Since the pandemic began in March of 2020, a total of 17 people from Chatham-Kent have died from COVID-19.
