Construction truck stolen again within 24 hours Dillon Road in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A truck from the Kingston area was recovered on September 16 and towed to a local towing agency.

In the early hours of September 17 a stolen vehicle report was received for the same vehicle.

The truck was observed driving in a dangerous manner in a populated area.

The vehicle was able to be located by a GPS tracker and found abandoned on Dillon Road in Chatham.

Several patrol officers and K-9 attended the area.

A track was conducted along the train tracks in the area and three suspects were located and arrested.

Two men and one woman were transported to Chatham-Kent H.Q. and held for bail on charges of theft and possession over $5,000 and dangerous driving.

Two impaired charges laid within one hour in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On September 17 at 9:32 p.m. and 10:09 p.m. members of the community contacted the Chatham-Kent Police for two separate driving complaints.

Both driving complaints posed a safety concern to the community and police responded to the area.

Impaired operation/ 80 plus Richmond Street in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A vehicle was stopped on Richmond Street in Chatham as a result of a driving complaint.

The driver was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters where he was found to have 2 ½ times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

An Essex man was charged with Operation while Impaired & 80+ and released with a court date of October 6,2021

Impaired by drug Grand Avenue in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A vehicle was stopped on Grand Avenue in Chatham.

The driver was observed to be impaired and transported to Chatham-Kent Headquarters.

As a result of the subsequent tests the driver a Thamesville man was charged with Operation while Impaired-drugs and released with a court date of October 6,2021

Traffic stop leads to escape custody, drug charges and suspended driving in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A vehicle was stopped on Creek street in Wallaceburg.

The driver attempted to flee on foot and was arrested after a short foot pursuit.

The man was searched and found to be in possession of illegal drugs.

The man was transported to Chatham Headquarters and held for bail.

Fraud investigation in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A woman was contacted by an unknown male identifying himself from security of her bank.

The display came up as local number.

The woman went to local businesses and bought various gift cards and gave the numbers to the male.

The woman had purchased between $5,000-$10,000 in cards.

A local business was able to cancel some of the cards prior to be used.

Residents of the community are reminded that banks and government agencies will never ask for payment by gift
cards.

They will also never ask for personal information or pass codes.

The suspects in these frauds unfortunately target vulnerable people in our community.

Police ask family members to continue to speak with their family members and friends and remind them to never give out information.
