We wear orange today for the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Today we wear orange to commemorate the children who died while attending residential schools and to honour the survivors, families and communities still affected by the legacy of the residential school system. Today we wear orange to declare that today and everyday, Every Child Matters and we remain an ally moving forward by remembering, having conversations and learning with the hopes of prompting action.
