Police: Pot plants stolen in Wallaceburg, MVC’s, drunk in public

Man charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to the theft of marijuana plants at a residence in Wallaceburg.

Through investigation, police learned that sometime around 1:30 a.m. an unknown man entered the victim’s backyard and stole about 2.5 pounds of marijuana.

With the assistance of video surveillance, police identified the man responsible.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the man on James Street and he was taken into custody.

The man was also arrested on an outstanding warrant in connection with a mischief investigation.

A 30-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of October 29, 2021.

Woman charged with being intoxicated in a public place

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 1:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to a woman yelling and causing a disturbance on Queen Street in Chatham.

Police located the woman who was intoxicated and unable to care for herself.

For her own safety, the woman was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.

The 24-year-old woman, of no fixed address, was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

She was released this morning when sober.

Motor vehicle collisions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning around 8 a.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Bear Line Road near McNaughton Avenue in Chatham.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $7,500.

The driver at fault was charged with careless driving.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Just before 9 a.m. yesterday morning, emergency crews responded to a two vehicle collision on Pain Court Line near Winter Line Road.

An 84-year-old Dover Township man was transported to hospital as a precaution.

A 21-year-old Tecumseh woman was charged with starting from a stopped position not in safety.

Total damage was estimated at $35,000.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, shortly after 9 a.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Albert Street near Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg.

No one was injured.

The driver at fault was charged with making a turn not in safety.
