Walk-in COVID-19 testing clinics in Wallaceburg, actives cases at 110 in C-K

The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres are holding two walk-in COVID-19 testing clinics in Wallaceburg this week.

Here are the details:

No appointment is necessary and people just need to show their health card at the site, officials say.

Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials also updated their ‘current status’ page of their website on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.

The active COVID-19 case count dropped to 110, 12 less than on Monday.

Public health officials say 74.1% of the active cases are unvaccinated, 10.1% are fully vaccinated, 8.6% are partially vaccinated, 5.4% are unknown and 1.7% are not yet protected. These figures are as of September 25, 2021, public health officials say.

A total of seven people with COVID-19 from Chatham-Kent are hospitalized, one less than on Monday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases is 2,535 across Chatham-Kent, 11 more than on Monday.

A total of 2,405 cases have been resolved.

A total of 56 active cases are linked to close contact, 21 cases have information pending, 18 cases are unknown and 15 cases are outbreak related.

Public health officials say seven outbreaks remain active across Chatham-Kent:

– An outbreak at St. Ursula Catholic School in Chatham remains actives and involves four total cases.

– An outbreak at St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Wallaceburg remains active and involves three total cases.

– An outbreak at Eben-Ezer Christian School in Chatham remains active and involves five total cases.

– An outbreak at McNaughton Area Public School in Chatham remains active and involves five total cases.

– An outbreak at Copper Terrace, a long-term care home in Chatham, remains active and involves five active cases.

– An outbreak at Tilbury District High School remains active and involves two cases.

– A school outbreak at Lambton-Kent Composite School in Dresden remains active and involves five total cases.

CK Public Health officials say the Delta variant continues to be the predominant circulating variant of concern in Chatham-Kent and Ontario.

“The majority of current cases among people living in CK have initial mutation screening results in line with the Delta variant,” public health officials added.

Public health officials say a total of 146,180 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 77,437 people 12+ have received at least one dose and 71,648 people 12+ have received two doses.

CK Public Health officials say several vaccine clinics are scheduled in Chatham in the first part of October:

A total of 134,704 tests for the virus have been completed to date.

Since the pandemic began in March of 2020, a total of 20 Chatham-Kent residents have died from COVID-19.
