Robbery leads to arrests

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance in the area of Richmond Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that a St. Thomas man was threatened by a man, who was in possession of a hammer and pipe retrofitted with a firing pin.

The man stole the victim’s backpack and fled the area on a bicycle, while in the company of another man.

Officers located the men on Queen Street and both were taken into custody.

A 22-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with assault with a weapon, being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, being in possession of a prohibited weapon, robbery and failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

An 18-year-old Chatham man was charged with being in possession of a prohibited weapon.

He was released pending a future court date of November 16, 2021.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 21, 2021 the man was released from Court with several conditions.

Four of those conditions stated that he was to remain in his residence, stay out of the Town of Dresden and not to communicate or be within 100 metres of a specific Dresden woman.

Last night, the man attended the woman’s home and entered without being invited or given permission.

The 60-year-old Blenheim man was arrested and charged with break and enter along with four counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On September 18, 2021 the man was released from Court with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was to report to the Bail Supervision Program.

On September 27, 2021 the man failed to report for a scheduled appointment.

Last night, the man was located by CP Police walking along their property on Murray Street in Chatham.

The 36-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 26, 2021 the woman entered into a Probation Order with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that she was not to contact or communicate with a specific Chatham man.

Yesterday morning, the woman attended the man’s home, which resulted in a verbal argument.

Officers responded to the disturbance and found the woman hiding in the bathroom.

The 25-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her Probation Order.

She was released pending a future court date of November 3, 2021.

Teens charged following physical altercation

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Tuesday afternoon, police received information about a physical altercation that occurred between three female students, all from the same school.

Yesterday, a 15-year-old Chatham youth was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.

A 14-year-old Chatham youth was arrested and charged with assault and assault causing bodily harm.

Both teens were released pending a future court date of November 8, 2021.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, members of the Traffic Unit conducted speed enforcement on Fairview Line.

Three motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.

The Chatham-Kent Police would like to remind drivers that speed kills.
