Man charged with unlawfully in dwelling

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: As previously released, on Sunday night, police responded to a man who was unlawfully in a vacant apartment on Sheldon Avenue in Chatham.

The man was charged and released with conditions not to attend that address.

Yesterday morning, the man re-attended the apartment and was arrested again.

The 50-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling and failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was released pending a future court date of November 9, 2021.

Man charged with weapon related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the report of a suspicious man around a residence on Centre Side Road.

Through investigation, police located the man and learned that he was currently wanted on outstanding warrants.

A search incident to arrest revealed that the man was in possession of brass knuckles even though he was currently bound by conditions not to possess any weapons.

The 34-year-old Chatham man was charged with being in possession of a prohibited weapon and being in possession of a weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to the report of a possible impaired driver at Kingston Park in Chatham.

Through investigation, the officer believed the man was in control of his vehicle while impaired and he was arrested.

The man was transported to police headquarters where a Drug Recognition Expert conducted an evaluation.

As a result, the DRE officer believed the man was impaired by a drug.

A 31-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with impaired driving.

He was released pending a future court date of November 4, 2021.

Collision leads to impaired driving charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Pioneer Line near Baldoon Road.

Through investigation, police believed the man responsible for the collision was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for breath tests.

A 34-year-old Chatham man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of November 4, 2021.

Man charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Sunday morning around 2 a.m. two men agreed to meet in a parking lot in Wallaceburg to discuss the sale of an iPhone X.

As the victim allowed the man to inspect the cell phone prior to purchasing it, the man stole the phone and fled on his bicycle.

Last night, police located the man and he was arrested.

A 37-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of November 16, 2021.

Warrant arrests

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 10, while investigating a matter in the area of 4 Reaume Avenue in Wallaceburg, police located a male and female party, both known to police to be wanted for failing to attend court.

The 26-year-old Wallaceburg woman and the 27-year-old Wallaceburg man were each arrested and released with a future court date of November 2, 2021.

Warrant arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 10, while on general patrol in the area of Gray Street in Chatham, police located a male who was known to be wanted for failing to attend his court date.

The 32-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a future court date of November 12, 2021.

Warrant arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 10, police were called to a bank in the area of King Street West in Chatham, in response to a complaint of a male sleeping beside the ATM.

Police located the 24-year-old man and discovered he had an outstanding warrant for mischief and forgery.

Police arrested the male and released him with a future court date of November 9, 2021.

Unlawfully in dwelling

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 10, police responded to a complaint of people being inside of a vacant unit of an apartment on Sheldon Avenue in Chatham.

Police entered the unit and located the former tenant inside, overdosing.

The 50-year-old Chatham man was transported to the hospital to be assessed medically.

The male was charged with unlawfully in a dwelling and mischief and was released at the hospital with a future court date of November 9, 2021.
